Local sources monitored a state of alert and limited protests in the capital Damascus, carried out by people from Deir ez-Zor province, protesting the detention of a person called "Abu Khawla Mouhsen," known to be a former leader in the Turkish-backed "National Army" militia.

Information indicated that the detention operation that took place during the past hours sparked discontent among some residents from Deir ez-Zor in the capital, who demanded the immediate release of the detainee, in a phenomenon that reflects the continuation of regional tendencies affecting the security situation.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had documented yesterday the outbreak of violent clashes using light weapons between a group affiliated with the General Security forces and another group led by "Abu Khawla Mouhsen" in Damascus, following an attempt by security elements to raid a house sheltering members of the "Army of the East" faction.

No precise information has been reported about human casualties or the extent of material damage resulting from these clashes so far, at a time when security authorities are seeking to contain the incident and prevent its spread to other areas of the capital.

These developments come in the context of a state of ongoing security tension in Damascus and its surroundings, resulting from the presence of cells and elements linked to former armed factions, especially those supported by Turkey, which the security authorities are seeking to dismantle and control their elements.

Security analysts believe that these incidents confirm the necessity of implementing a comprehensive security policy that addresses multiple challenges and ensures the rule of law while taking into account the specificities of different regions, within a framework that prevents the exploitation of regional affiliations to achieve political or military goals that harm general stability.
